I really wanted to see the Florence Court Heather House, a garden feature at Florence Court Estate in County Fermanagh.
The Original Heather House
In 1993, two brothers, David and Andrew Raffles recreated the 19th-century cottage orné Summer House, using an 1870 photo of the 3rd Earl of Enniskillen and his family at the original Heather House.
The Heather House has a wooden frame, thatched roof and heather-clad walls.

“It faces Ben Aughlin, the heather clad hills running down towards cottage wood and kennel fields, to the right the Caulker Mountains whilst in the foreground the specimen trees and plantings of ‘The Pleasure Grounds’. The work of man and nature is breath taking.”

Since I was there, four 14 and 15-year old teenage boys burned the Florence Court Summer House down. It was rebuilt again, this time using the original plans.
